Discover Iceland´s wintery landscapes with only the ones you care most about on a private holiday. Hunt for the elusive northern lights, keep away the cold in the warm waters of the Blue Lagoon, and step inside a glittering ice cave on this enchanted journey.
Shortly after your plane touches the ground at Keflavík Airport, you are met by your private guide, who will take you to the famous Blue Lagoon Spa. There, you’ll relax after your flight, allowing the warm, mineral-rich water to caress your skin. Then, with a complimentary drink in your hand, you’ll enjoy the surrounding scenery of black lava rocks and white, billowing pillars of steam. Afterwards, your driver will take you to Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík, where you will spend a night at a luxurious downtown hotel.
Today, your guide will pick you up and whisk you away to the three iconic sites that make up the Golden Circle Route. You´ll follow in the footsteps of Vikings at Þingvellir National Park, see geysers erupt at Geysir Geothermal Area, and be mesmerized by the force of Gullfoss Waterfall. You will then board a large truck that will take you into the rugged highlands of Iceland and up Langjökull Glacier. There, you´ll feel the adrenaline surging through your veins as you race across the ancient ice on a snowmobile. At the end of the day, you´ll head to a four-star resort in the countryside, which is perfect for gazing up to the sky in search of the elusive northern lights.
After breakfast, your guide will show you the beauty and raw power of Iceland’s southern coastline. You´ll visit two stunning waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss before embarking on a glacier hike on Sólheimajökull Glacier. Accompanied by a professional glacier guide, you´ll discover the strange but alluring landscapes found on top of the icecap, such as blue crevasses and streaks of black ash, which are remnants of past eruptions from nearby volcanoes. You will then travel to the famous black sand beach of Reynisfjara before heading to your hotel in the small but charming town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur.
Your destination today is the spectacular Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. From Kirkjubæjarklaustur, you’ll travel through a black sand desert when suddenly the majestic Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier, will appear on the horizon. Nestled in the realm of this ice giant is Jökulsárlón, where icebergs from the glacier have broken off and now float gently on the azure water. Nearby is the Diamond Beach, where icebergs from the lagoon have washed up onshore. As they glisten in the low sunlight, they are reminiscent of precious gemstones on a velvet blanket. From there, you’ll travel up the glacier, where you will have a chance to step inside an authentic ice cave, seeing the bright blue walls of the cave and the millions of air bubbles trapped in the ice. At the end of the day, you’ll head back to your hotel in Kirkjubæjarklaustur.
Today, you’ll travel again across Iceland’s south coast, this time heading towards Reykjavík. You’ll see the strangely shaped Dyrhólaey rock arch and travel underneath two majestic glaciers, Mýrdalsjökull and Eyjafjallajökull. Today is your chance to explore further some of the sites you saw in the previous days. If, however, you want to discover something new, your guide will be happy to show you some of the hidden gems found there, known only to the locals. At the end of the day, you’ll end up at the downtown hotel in Reykjavík city. You are free to unwind at your hotel or explore the vibrant nightlife found only a few steps away.
You are free to explore the city of Reykjavík today. Just a few steps from the hotel are countless museums, galleries, shops, and restaurants. A private transfer will take you from your hotel to Keflavík International Airport when it is time to leave for your flight.
